A marketplace is two products in one: a great buyer experience and a great seller experience. Neglect either and liquidity dries up.
On the seller side, make onboarding fast, payouts transparent, and analytics honest. Escrow funds until delivery is confirmed, and automate payouts on a predictable schedule. On the buyer side, secure delivery is non-negotiable — signed, expiring download URLs and licence keys that can't be shared endlessly.
Trust is the real product. Ratings, verified purchases, clear refund rules and responsive moderation keep the ecosystem healthy. Search and discovery decide whether good listings get found, so invest in categories, filters and fast full-text search early.
Build the admin console as a first-class surface with role-based access and audit logs — the people running the marketplace need as much care as the people using it.
